Automobiles in German Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Police stated they were alerted by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say preliminary tests indicate the substance was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the event," they added.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for details.

A senior representative commented the incident left him speechless and required to be solved quickly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
